A Republican from Ohio won the nation’s highest civilian honor after continuing to support the president and his policies.

Rep. Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom at a private ceremony at the White House on Jan. 11.

President Donald Trump commended his long-standing supporter for playing a key role in defending the president throughout Democratic Party-led investigations into so called Russian foreign interference, abuse of power, and obstruction of justice.

“At the beginning of last year, Jordan was named ranking member of the House Judiciary Committee and led the effort to confront the impeachment witch hunt,” he said in a statement. “He is an inspiration to freedom-loving Americans everywhere and has distinguished himself as one of the most consequential members of Congress of his generation.”

Jordan was applauded for revealing there was no conclusive evidence of Russian foreign interference in the 2016 presidential election.

“He also worked to unmask the Russia hoax and take on deep state corruption, confronting senior Justice Department officials for obstructing Congress and exposing the fraudulent origins of the Russia collusion lie,” the president said. “His work helped to unearth malfeasance at the highest levels of the U.S. government.”

He played a key role in preventing the federal government’s revenue service from discriminating against different groups based on their political views.

Jim Jordan’s outstanding record

“In 2012, Jordan led the effort to unearth one of the worst scandals in the history of the Treasury Department,” the president said. “As a result of his investigation, the Treasury Department inspector general and the oversight committee found that the IRS was systematically targeting conservative organizations.”

He also fought arms trafficking by preventing groups accused of being involved in organized crime from giving AK-47 assault rifles to Mexican drug cartels.

“He helped uncover a gun running program known as Fast and Furious,” the president said.

Jordan’s other achievements include saving millions of “wasteful” taxpayer dollars on a variety of green energy programs and opposing the Department of Justice’s Operation Chokepoint program, which was an “early form of cancel culture and ‘de-platforming’ directed at law-abiding gun owners.”

The White House website describes the Presidential Medal of Freedom as the nation’s “highest civilian honor.”

“Established by President John F. Kennedy in 1963, this prestigious award is the nation’s highest civilian honor,” the website states. “It is awarded by the president of the United States to individuals who have made exceptional contributions to the security or national interests of America, to world peace, or to cultural or other significant public or private endeavors.”
