U.S. President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump released their official Christmas address this year on Twitter Tuesday.

“Melania and I are truly thrilled to wish every American a very merry Christmas,” the President said. “This wonderful season brings out the best in the American spirit. And we see neighbors helping neighbors and communities lifting up those who need a helping hand.”

‘During the Christmas season we rejoice in God’s many blessings. We come together to spread hope, love, compassion, cheer and goodwill,’ said Melania.

‘And we remember the events of one holy night more than 2,000 years ago.’

The First Lady added, “This Christmas, we salute the brave men and women who serve our nation overseas. We send our love to the military families whose sacrifice helps keep our nation free. We give thanks to the law enforcement officers who protect our communities, and we pray for a future of peace on earth.”

Earlier in the day, President Trump and first lady Melania Trump attended Christmas service at the National Cathedral in Washington, D.C. on Monday night. The Trumps were escorted to a front pew of the church as services began, with the president wearing his overcoat.

Vice President Mike Pence also sends his message: “This Christmas, our hearts turn to gifts of family, friends, our freedom and the heroes who defend it…and the indescribable gift born in Bethlehem so long ago “wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger.” Karen and I wish you and yours every blessing and a very Merry Christmas”
