A Democrat that directed the White House to ease border control measures caused illegal immigration to soar, a presidential consultant said.

The White House confirmed Joe Biden’s open border policy recently resulted in a significant jump in foreigners trying to enter the United States unlawfully.

“I certainly think that the idea that a more humane policy would be in place may have driven people to make that decision,” Roberta Jacobson, special assistant to the president, said. “Perhaps, more importantly, it definitely drove smugglers to express disinformation—to spread disinformation about what was now possible, and we know that.”

Jacobson, who is also the coordinator for the southern border ambassador, believes the Democrat Party’s decision to stop deporting foreigners is inspiring more criminal aliens to come to America.

“We have seen surges before,” she said. “Surges tend to respond to hope, and there was a significant hope for a more humane policy after four years of–you know–pent up demand.”

The special assistant revealed the Democrats want to let more foreigners into the country who want to call the United States their new home.

“I will certainly agree that we are trying to walk and chew gum at the same time,” she said. “We are trying to convey to everybody in the region that we will have legal processes for people in the future, and we are standing those up as soon as we can.”

She also suggested the Biden administration was adopting a more passive response to unlawful immigration and only deporting some illegal aliens.

“You cannot come through irregular means. It is dangerous and, you know, the majority of people will be sent out of the United States,” she said. “Anyone, especially children and families with young children, should [not] make the dangerous trip to try and enter the United States in an irregular fashion—the border is not open.”

Biden recently asked Congress for $4 billion over four years to determine why foreigners try to enter the United States illegally.

Jacobson blamed illegal immigration on an environmental theory that burning fossil fuels creates carbon emissions, which can allegedly influence long-term weather patterns.

“The president has committed to seeking to address the root causes of migration, including corruption, violence, and economic devastation exacerbated by climate change,” she said.

She also suggested foreigners would be less likely to illegally enter the United States if the Biden administration funded violence prevention and anti-gang programs in their home countries.

“The funds we are asking for from Congress do not go to government leaders; they go to communities, training, climate mitigation, violence prevention, [and] anti-gang programs,” she said. “In other words, they go to the people who otherwise migrate in search of hope, and they will have to have the participation of the private sectors in those countries.”
