Former U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo was dejected and absolutely condemned President Joe Biden’s comments about the human rights abuses suffered by Uighur Muslims in China, when in an interview for CNN this week he appeared to justify the events by referring to them as a different cultural “norm.”

Biden, generated outrage by referring to the Uighur genocide perpetrated by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), as a “cultural norm,” rather than condemning it even though it means the painful and slow extinction of this ethnic group.

“I’m not going to speak out against what Xi Jinping is doing in Hong Kong, what he’s doing to the Uighurs in the western mountains of China, and Taiwan trying to put an end to the one-China policy by making it coercive,” Biden said during the interview.

He added, “Culturally there are different norms in each country and their leaders are expected to follow them.”

Pompeo, who played a major role in denouncing the CCP’s abuses against the Uighur minority, even labeling it a genocide, was outraged by the president’s remarks during an interview on Newsmax TV’s “Saturday Agenda.”

“This isn’t about different cultures or different norms. This is about a deep human rights violation.” Pompeo said, contradicting Biden.

Pompeo even noted that current Secretary of State Antony Blinken has agreed with the Trump administration’s classification of the CCP’s treatment of ethnic Uighurs as “genocide,” so Biden should accept the situation and act accordingly, he told host Heather Childers.

“To hear an American president talk about it in such a way that doesn’t connote to all the seriousness with which this must be taken is disheartening,” Pompeo said. “And I hope the administration will take it seriously in the same way that we did when we were in office.”

Finally, Pompeo was optimistic, suggesting that Biden still has time to change his attitude toward China and oppose Xi Jinping’s “hegemonic desires.” But he warned that if he fails to do so, the American people will take it upon themselves to “demand that the Communist Party of China stop abusing the United States of America.”

Other voices also joined Pompeo’s repudiation of Biden’s remarks, such is the case of One America News journalist Jack Posobiec, who assured that this part of Biden’s speech is propaganda for the Chinese Communist Party (CCP).

“Joe Biden just said the Uyghur genocide is just a Chinese cultural norm and reminded Americans that China has been victimized by the West in the past. These are direct CCP propaganda lines,” Posobiec tweeted.

In another of his tweets Posobiec added, “Uyghur women are gang raped in CCP gulags and Joe Biden calls it a ‘cultural norm.'”

It should be remembered that human rights violations perpetrated by the CCP are much more numerous, and include persecutions against other ethnic groups and against freedom of conscience, such is the case of practitioners of the ancient spiritual discipline of Falun Dafa or Falun Gong.
