Joe Biden’s administration promised to demolish prejudice against people belonging to another race that is physically “built into” major infrastructure on Nov. 8.

The transportation secretary accused national highways of being constructed on racist principles.

“If a highway was built for the purpose of dividing a white and a black neighborhood, or if an underpass was constructed such that a bus carrying mostly black and Puerto Rican kids to a beach–or that would have been—in New York was designed too low for it to pass by that obviously reflects racism that went into those design choices,” Pete Buttigieg said in a statement.

Buttigieg claimed he was shocked that anyone would not automatically draw the same conclusions.

“I am still surprised that some people were surprised when I pointed out the fact,” he said.

He also announced $1 billion in taxpayer funding, from the recently passed $1.2 trillion infrastructure bill, would help remedy damages to those ethnic groups.

“Sometimes it really is the case that an overpass went in a certain way that is so harmful that it has got to come down or maybe be put underground,” he said.

Fox News host Tucker Carlson criticized the transportation secretary for contradicting himself by suggesting buses carrying black children could not pass while those carrying white children could.

“According to the Department of Transportation secretary, overpasses in New York were designed to keep buses of black and Puerto Rican kids from getting to the beach,” he said according to the Daily Beast. “Here is the amazing part, those very same overpasses somehow allowed buses full of white kids to get through–how does that work?”

Carlson mocked the recently passed infrastructure budget’s value to taxpayers.

“Thank heavens he has got $1 trillion to get to the bottom of the racist road problem,” he said according to the publication.

Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) shared the television celebrity’s skepticism.

“We Hispanics are very, very tall, and we need rich, woke Dems to raise the bridges for us,” he said on Twitter. “Without Pete’s condescending help, there is no way we can get to the beach.”
