President Donald Trump suggested that former President Barack Obama sought the help of foreign governments in an attempt to influence the outcome of the 2016 election.

“Can you explain to the American people why it is appropriate for an American president to ask a foreign leader about a political rival?” CNBC journalist Eamon Javers asked President Trump in reference to his telephone communication with his Ukrainian counterpart, Volodimir Zelensky.

The White House recently published a transcript in which President Trump shared his thoughts on the controversy involving Joe Biden.

“And what you would have said if you discovered that Barack Obama, perhaps, had asked a foreign leader for information about you,” Javers said.

“Well, that’s what he did, isn’t it? Really, when you think about it,” the president replied, insinuating that Obama, in fact, asked foreign leaders to investigate his presidential campaign.

“Eamon Javers asks President Trump why it would be appropriate to ask a foreign leader about a political rival and what he would’ve said if Obama had perhaps asked a foreign leader about him during a campaign,” CNBC reported on Twitter, highlighting that President Trump’s answer was he “didn’t do it.”

On this point, it is important to mention that the president did not ask to be informed, he only asked to investigate whether it was true that Joe Biden threatened to withdraw an important U.S. funds transfer to Ukraine if they refused to close an investigation against the energy company where his son worked, and the prosecutor was withdrawn from the case.

“There’s a lot of talk about Biden’s son, that Biden stopped the prosecution and a lot of people want to find out about that so whatever you can do with the Attorney General would be great,” Trump told his Ukrainian counterpart, according to the text published by the White House.

“Look, that whole witch hunt was started, and hopefully that’ll all come out,” President Trump said Wednesday in reference to how Special Adviser Robert Mueller’s failed investigation into alleged Russian collusion originated.

“What [the Democrats] have done to this country is a disgrace,” he stressed. “They’ve hurt this country very badly.  And no other president should have to go through what I’ve gone through,” he concluded.

Reportedly, the operation that prompted Special Advisor Robert Mueller’s investigation was called “Hurricane Crossfire.”

Under that code name was carried out the espionage activity launched by Obama’s FBI on the campaign of candidate Donald Trump, and which involved the former British intelligence agent, Christopher Steele, as well as prominent figures such as Alexander Downer, the former Australian High Commissioner in the United Kingdom, and Maltese professor Joseph Mifsud.
