A Democrat from Louisiana failed to follow her own order for everyone in New Orleans to cover their nose and mouth on Feb. 18.
LaToya Cantrell was recently caught going maskless to the Mayor’s Mardi Gras Ball at Gallier Hall. The mayor had reimposed a face mask mandate for indoor public venues and schools just a few weeks prior.
Video footage obtained by Fox News shows the mayor singing karaoke with two other women. None of them were wearing masks at the indoor celebration.
The broadcaster examined a total of 100 short videos taken from the ball, and found no guests complied with the mask mandate either.
“Jan 11, 2022: City of New Orleans announces reinstatement of indoor mask mandate,” Fox News senior booking producer Sam Sullivan said on Twitter. “[See what happened at the] Mayor’s Ball 2022.”
When Fox News enquired about the online videos, nearly all of them were removed within the hour on Feb. 21.
“While we did not see perfect adoption of the guidelines in every instance over the weekend, we were encouraged overall by the level of masking and vigilance we saw on the parade route and at ball events,” mayoral spokesman Beau Tidwell said according to the broadcaster.
“The mask guidelines and the vaccination requirement will remain in effect through [the] Mardi Gras–that has not changed and it will not change. Under the current guidelines, masks may be removed indoors while eating and drinking,” he added.
