House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) wants the House speaker to recall Congress and do everything in her power to keep U.S. forces in Afghanistan until every American is evacuated.
He urged Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) to urgently stop President Joe Biden from withdrawing U.S. troops from Kabul.
“Biden is preparing to leave Americans behind in Afghanistan at the mercy of terrorists,” McCarthy said on Twitter. “Pelosi must bring Congress back to prohibit the president from withdrawing our troops until every American is out.”
The Republican shared a video, showing he met with other House GOP lawmakers to discuss the plight of U.S. citizens in the Middle Eastern country.

Moments later the House minority leader warned his colleagues are prepared to use their numbers in Congress to postpone U.S. forces from withdrawing.
“House Republicans are in Washington, D.C.—ready to vote to prohibit President Biden from withdrawing troops from Afghanistan until every American is safely home,” he said on Twitter.

The remarks came after U.S. Central Command Commander Gen. Kenneth Frank McKenzie revealed the last C-17 transport plane departed at 11:59 p.m. on Aug. 30 local time.
“We did not get out everybody we had wanted to get out,” he said.
McKenzie estimated the number of Americans in need of rescue is still in the “very low hundreds.” Secretary of State Antony Blinken later revised that figure to “under 200 and likely closer to 100,” according to the New York Post.
McCarthy claims there is “no excuse” for why the deadline to withdraw troops cannot be extended.
“The State Department has made a decision that the [August] 31st is the deadline,” he said according to a video shared on YouTube. “They are allowing Taliban to be dictate our foreign policy.”
The Republican lawmaker questioned why the Biden administration is not helping stranded citizens escape, especially since more than 5,000 Islamic State terrorists were recently released from prison.
“We are watching the Americans being left behind but administration knowingly making that decision,” he can be heard saying. “There is no excuse why this deadline has not been extended. The speaker has got to call us back in.”
He accused the Biden administration of refusing to share information with Congress about its withdrawal plans and other data.
BL understands if the Afghan evacuation crisis continues, McCarthy’s fellow Republicans will consider drafting articles of impeachment against the president.
