An unhinged trespasser broke into Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s empty Queens campaign offices on Saturday, June 15, barricading himself in a closet before being pulled out by the police.
The man was emotionally disturbed, police said, whose name was not released by police, according to New York Post.
He broke into the offices of Ocasio-Cortez sometime before 5 p.m. at 74-09 37th Ave. in Jackson Heights, the police said.
“It doesn’t seem to be a break-in. It seems to be a trespass,” said George Tsourovakas, a spokesman for the New York City police department. “Upon our arrival, he ended up discharging a fire extinguisher, which caused a cloud condition,” and then “retreated into a utility closet,” reported by ABC News.
He shot them with a fire extinguisher when police came and escaped to a utility closet, police said.
Once they brought him out, he was taken for a psychiatric evaluation by the police to Elmhurst Hospital.
