Minnesota Rep. Ilhan Omar tweeted on Monday, July 22, that illegal aliens must have “access” to abortion, which she equated with “medical care.”
“No one should fear receiving medical care because they are undocumented,” Omar wrote in a Monday night tweet. “We must ensure that all people in our country have access to reproductive health.”
The “Squad” member was reacting to a Vox article saying, “Immigrants are skipping reproductive health care because they’re afraid of being deported.”

Omar has taken hard-line positions on abortion before. Following President Donald Trump’s commitment to end late-term abortion in his February State of the Union address, Omar tweeted: “If Trump thinks pivoting from his failed vanity wall to policing women’s bodies and choices is going to help his 2020 chances he has another thing coming.”
All the Democrat 2020 candidates who joined the second debate night in June said they support taxpayer-funded health care for all illegal aliens living in the United States.
Besides, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) said over the weekend that American taxpayers must maintain a “lifelong commitment” to illegal alien children by providing them with “mental health care services … for the rest of their lives,” according to Breitbart.
The Vox article claimed, “News of ICE raids and family separation are shaping people’s reproductive lives” in “the Trump era.”
The Trump administration announced on July 15 that taxpayer-funded family planning clinics must immediately stop referring women for abortions. This follows a ruling from the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 9th Circuit on June 20 states that the Trump administration’s family planning rules, Protect Life Rule, can go into effect.
This would withdraw federal Title X financing from any medical facility providing abortions, abortion counseling, or abortion referrals.
President Trump in his tweet in May expressed his support for pro life.
“As most people know, and for those who would like to know, I am strongly Pro-Life, with the three exceptions—Rape, Incest, and protecting the Life of the mother—the same position taken by Ronald Reagan. We have come very far in the last two years with 105 wonderful new Federal Judges (many more to come), two great new Supreme Court Justices, the Mexico City Policy, and a whole new & positive attitude about the Right to Life. The Radical Left, with late-term abortion (and worse), is imploding on this issue. We must stick together and Win for Life in 2020. If we are foolish and do not stay UNITED as one, all of our hard fought gains for Life can, and will, rapidly disappear!”
