Franklin Graham said in an interview with The Western Journal that God might be behind President Trump winning the 2016 election.
Graham praised President Trump for what he has done for the country on many fronts and regards him as one of the best presidents, saying, “He may go down in history as one of the best presidents we’ve had,” according to The Western Journal.
Graham listed a series of the president’s accomplishments. “I think he has done an excellent job getting people back to work, turning the economy around, defeating ISIS as a military power on the battlefield. He has done all of these things, and he’s done it very quickly,” he said.
In addition, he also gave President Trump credit in judge appointment: “He’s fulfilled his promise as it relates to conservative judges,” he said. “He’s put two Supreme Court justices so far on the bench that are conservative. He’s appointed a number at lower courts. I hope that he’ll be able to do even more in that area, because that will have an impact on my children’s lives. If we have the right judges, it will benefit all of us.”
Graham also praised president Trump for religious liberty, specifically helping Minister Andrew Brunso to get out of prison in Turkey, “I think he would still be in a Turkish jail if it had not been for President Trump,” he said.
According to White House, regarding religious freedom, since taking office, President Trump has signed several executive orders, one of which includes the executive order titled Establishment of a White House Faith and Opportunity Initiative in May 2018. He also signed the Religious Liberty executive order to greatly enhance religious freedom and freedom of speech in May 2017.
Franklin Graham is the president of the evangelical organization Samaritan’s Purse and the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association.
Franklin Graham is not the only one who thinks divine intervention was behind the 2016 election, but also press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders shares his view.
In January 2019 in an interview with CBN News, Sanders said, “I think God calls all of us to fill different roles at different times and I think that He wanted Donald Trump to become president.”
“That’s why he’s there and I think he has done a tremendous job in supporting a lot of the things that people of faith really care about,” Sanders said.
