Hunter Biden, the son of former Vice President Joe Biden, has filed a protective order in an endeavor to conceal his financial situation. He has concerns the public may not be sympathetic toward him if his financial details become known.
The protective order is connected to a child support case, according to the Daily Mail.
Attorneys representing Biden have made the claim that Biden would be publicly embarrassed should the media get a hold of the information.
“The likelihood that [Biden’s] private records will be used in an inappropriate or malicious manner for reasons that have absolutely nothing to do with these proceedings is exceedingly high and should not be tolerated by the court,” the filing reads.
“Due to the extraordinary circumstances surrounding the parties involved in this matter, it is in the interest of justice and necessary for a Protective Order to be in place,” Biden’s attorney said.
The case has arisen after a woman claimed Hunter Biden is the father of her child, which he denied. DNA tests have proven, however, with “scientific certainty,” he is the father. Hunter had previously denied he had any sexual relations with the woman.
Lunden Alex Roberts alleges that she and Hunter Biden “were in a relationship” and that “Baby Doe” was born in August 2018 “as a result of that relationship,” according to a report in the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette.
Roberts is seeking $11,000 for legal fees incurred, as well as child support payments.
Biden is claiming he has incurred “significant debts” arising from his divorce in 2017 from Kathleen Biden. At present, he is unemployed with no monthly income for the past several months.
President Trump has become the focus of a “witch hunt” since he voiced suspicions the Bidens were involved in corruption in Ukraine. In July, he mentioned his fears to the Ukrainian president in a phone conversation. House Democrats have begun an impeachment inquiry as a result, which is expected to escalate further this week.
The questions on the Bidens in Ukraine still remain unanswered; Hunter was being paid thousands each week to be a member of the board at Burisma, a natural gas holding. Joe Biden bragged on camera he would withhold $1 billion in aid to Ukraine unless the prosecutor investigating Burisma was fired. The prosecutor was promptly dismissed.
The president has every right to ask about corruption in his quest to “drain the swamp.”
