An elected official that’s responsible for ensuring the Democratic Party passes legislation in the House declared the president insane.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) used national television to call President Donald Trump severely mentally disordered and worthy of capital punishment.

“Well, sadly, the person who is running the executive branch is a deranged, unhinged, dangerous president of the United States,” she said in a video shared on Twitter.

The hostile remarks came after CBS “60 Minutes” reporter Lesley Stahl asked Pelosi who was running the federal government and in charge of carrying out and enforcing the law.

“Is anybody running the executive branch of the government? Who is running the executive branch?” Stahl can be heard saying on the video.

Pelosi reiterated she was counting down the days until President Trump’s first term ends, could not wait for the incumbent to depart the Oval Office, and will try to impeach him a second time.

“There are only a number of days until we can be protected from him but he has done something so serious that there should be prosecution against him,” she said.

Pelosi previously ordered Vice President Mike Pence to remove President Trump without notice.

“I join the Senate Democratic leader in calling for the vice president to remove this president by immediately invoking the 25th Amendment,” she said according to Fox News.

According to the Constitution, Pence has the authority to replace the president if he becomes unable to perform his duties due to illness or disability.

For this to happen, Pence must first provide a written declaration stating the president is “unable to discharge the powers and duties of his office,” and he will immediately assume “powers and duties of the office” as acting president according to the National Constitution Center website.

The BL understands it is improbable the vice president will resort to this measure because President Trump’s first term will end in less than nine days.

However, Pelosi is still open to pursuing the 25th Amendment, even though President Trump’s term may end before any decision is reached.

“No, it [the 25th Amendment] is not [off the table,] nothing is off the table,” she said in the video.

“If the vice president and Cabinet do not act, the Congress may be prepared to move forward with impeachment,” she added. “That is the overwhelming sentiment of my caucus and the American people, by the way … while it is only 13 days left, any day can be a horror show for America.”
