House Democrats had to delete a photo taken under Obama administration from their tweet, which was used to boost an “inhumane treatment at the border” investigation.
The Committee on Oversight and Reform announced a hearing called Kids in Cages: Inhumane Treatment at the Border over Twitter focusing on “examining” the alleged inhumane treatment after members of the committee claimed there ws “grotesque treatment of children.”
It seems that the announcement is for the inhumane treatment occurring under President Trump when the tweet added a photo of children in cages to promote their investigation into “inhumane treatment” at the border, according to Daily Caller News Foundation.
But that photo was from the Obama administration’s time taken in 2014. The photo was quickly deleted.
President Trump’s War Room Twitter account managed by the Trump 2020 presidential campaign showed the specific part of the photo included in the House Democrats‘ tweet, according to Daily Caller News Foundation.
After deleting the tweet, the Oversight Committee wrote a second tweet with a different photo. Republican House Oversight Committee and The Associated Press then pointed out that this one was also from the Obama administration. This tweet was also deleted.
“The photos, taken by The Associated Press, were from 2014, during the Obama administration, but were presented by liberal activists as if they showed the effects of Trump’s immigration policy now.”https://t.co/9x3F7VYUTz

This is not the first time that Democrats used photo from Obama’s term to accuse the Trump administration of unfair treatment to illegal immigrants.
In May, 2018 Democrat Antonio Villaraigosa, former Los Angeles mayor, referred in a tweet to photos showing young-looking immigrants in steel cages, saying “Speechless. This is not who we are as a nation.”
Jon Favreau, who was a speechwriter for President Barack Obama, referred Sunday to the same photos saying: “This is happening right now, and the only debate that matters is how we force our government to get these kids back to their families as fast as humanly possible.”
But according to AP facts check, those photos were from 2014 taken by AP, during the Obama administration, but were presented by liberal activists as if they showed the effects of Trump’s immigration policy now. Villaraigosa, Favreau, and some others deleted their tweets when the mistake was pointed out, according to AP.
President Trump in May 2018 also blasted Democrats for using photos from Obama’s term to show illegal immigrant children held in cages in detention centers to accuse his administration of looking bad.
“Democrats mistakenly tweet 2014 pictures from Obama’s term showing children from the Border in steel cages. They thought it was recent pictures in order to make us look bad, but backfires. Dems must agree to Wall and new Border Protection for good of country…Bipartisan Bill!”
