President Donald J. Trump on Friday delivered the speech at the National Rifle Association’s (NRA) annual convention. Here are the highlights of the speech.
“We believe that children should be taught to love our country, honor our history, and always respect our great American Flag. And we believe in the right to self-defense and the right to protect your family, your community, and your loved ones.”
“We believe in the wisdom of our founders, and we believe in freedom and liberty and the right to keep and bear arms. We know that faith and family—not government and bureaucracy—are the center of American life.
And above all else, we know this: In America, we don’t worship government—we worship God.”
“Democrats proposed confiscating guns from law-abiding citizens, but voted against notifying ICE when an illegal immigrant attempts to purchase a gun.
The double standard stops now.”
“When guns are outlawed, only outlaws will have guns.”
“Under my Administration, we will never surrender American sovereignty to anyone. We will never allow foreign bureaucrats to trample on your Second Amendment freedoms. And that is why my Administration will never ratify the UN Arms Trade Treaty.”
“With God as our witness, we swear today that we will defend our rights, we will safeguard our freedoms, we will uphold our heritage, we will protect our Constitution, and we will make America stronger, prouder, safer and GREATER than ever before!”
