A lieutenant colonel in the Space Force has been removed from his post after claiming on a podcast that Marxism is invading the U.S. military, according to military.com.

Lt. Col. Matthew Lohmeier was briefly reassigned after appearing on a podcast to promote his book, “Irresistible Revolution: Marxism’s Goal of Conquest & the Unmaking of the American Military,” claiming that a “neo-Marxist agenda have corrupted the military.”

A Space Force representative explained to the media, “This decision was based on public comments made by Lt. Col. Lohmeier in a recent podcast” and that “Lt Gen. (Stephen) Whiting has initiated a command directed investigation on whether these comments constitute prohibited partisan political activity.”

Lohmeier told podcast host L. Todd Wood, “The diversity, inclusion and equity industry and the trainings we are receiving in the military… is rooted in critical race theory, which is rooted in Marxism.”

He insisted that his book is not partisan but rather a message about the militarization of the army, which he said he had seen firsthand.

After speaking on the conservative podcast “Information Operation,” Lohmeier—the 11th Space Warning Squadron commander at Buckley Air Force Base in Colorado—found himself in hot water.

Lohmeier also seemed to take issue with Pentagon Press Secretary John Kirby, whom he referred to only as “a Pentagon spokesperson,” saying that Kirby had said the Air Force and Space Force have so many white pilots.

“If you want to provide that kind of messaging to your already-struggling pilot force, you can already expect to see further retention problems,” he said in the interview, reports the NewYorkPost.

In a statement released on Friday, May 14, Kirby denied making any comment about the issue.

“This department has an open door to any qualified American who wants to serve,” Kirby said. “Diversity throughout the force is a source of strength. We can’t afford to deprive ourselves of the talents and the voices of the full range of a nation that we defend, some active-duty servicemen, however, have expressed gratitude.”

Lohmeier told Military.com that he had discussed the book with his colleagues and legal and public relations authorities and was told he was not required to apply it for pre-publication security approval.

He said, “My intent never has been to engage in partisan politics. I have written a book about a particular political ideology in the hope that our defense department might return to being politically non-partisan in the future as it has honorably throughout history.”

Service members are forbidden from sharing their own political views while in uniform, although they are allowed to do so off base, according to U.S. military code.

After Lohmeier was fired for speaking out against Marxism in the military, Republican politicians blasted President Joe Biden.

Lohmeier was called a “hero” by Rep. Byron Donalds (R-Fla.) for both his military service and upholding the interests of the “leftist mob” threatening to cancel him.

“Lt. Col. Matthew Lohmeier is a hero, not only for putting on the uniform every day to defend our nation but also to defend the freedoms of the leftist mob attempting to cancel him,” Donalds said. “[Critical race theory] should have no place in our classrooms, Armed Forces, or country as a whole.”

Rep. Andy Biggs (R-Ariz.) echoed the Florida Republican, saying the U.S. military “should be preparing to win battles—not being brainwashed with Marxist ideals.”
