A senator has warned against former Vice President Joe Biden, saying he could be immediately impeached over his dealings in Ukraine if he wins the Democratic nomination in July and then the presidential election in November.

In an interview with Bloomberg News on Sunday, Feb. 2, Sen. Joni Ernst (R-Iowa) said the “door” for impeachment against Biden has been “opened.”

“I think this door of impeachable whatever has been opened. Joe Biden should be very careful what he’s asking for, because you know, we can have a situation where if it should ever be President Biden, that immediately, people, right the day after he would be elected would be saying, ‘Well, we’re going to impeach him,’” Ernst said.

The Iowa senator added that the grounds for impeachment would be “for being assigned to take on Ukrainian corruption yet turning a blind eye to Burisma because his son was on the board making over a million dollars a year.”

Ernst gave her warning after the House Democrats conducted an impeachment against President Donald Trump, starting on allegations that the president had pressured Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy to investigate Biden’s son, Hunter, and his business dealings in Ukraine.

The Republicans had earlier said that Biden abused his role as vice president to push for the ouster of Ukrainian prosecutor Viktor Shokin who was accused of corruption and had investigated Burisma, a corrupt energy company. They have also countered that the Hunter’s role with Burisma was rife with potential conflicts of interests for his father.

According to Breitbart, Hunter joined Burisma’s board of directors in May 2014, around the same time his father was tapped as the Obama administration’s point man on Ukraine. Despite having no background in either Eastern Europe or the energy industry, Hunter was paid as much as $83,000-per-month for his services.
