Democrats unanimously sided with Planned Parenthood and condemned the Trump administration on abortion prohibition rules.

Planned Parenthood on Monday, Aug. 19, pulled out of the federal family planning program following a new Trump administration rule prohibiting clinics from referring women for abortions.

Enforcement of the new Title X rule marks a major victory for a key part of President Trump’s political base, which opposes abortion. Defunding Planned Parenthood has been pushed because it is the largest abortion provider in the United States.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.), claimed that the Title X rule is “unethical,” asking the Senate to pass a bill to block it.

With their unethical Title X gag rule, the Trump Admin is forcing Planned Parenthood grantees out of the program & ending access to birth control & reproductive health care for women w/ nowhere else to turn. The House has passed legislation to block this rule, the Senate must now do the same,” she tweeted from @Nancy Pelosi on Aug. 19.

Senate Minority Leader Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.) on Monday supported Planned Parenthood’s decision.

“Thanks to President Trump, millions of women’s health care is now in flux. Planned Parenthood made the right decision refusing to allow the Trump admin to dictate what medical care their doctors talk about and provide. I stand with Planned Parenthood,” he tweeted.

Simultaneous reactions of Democratic presidential candidates

Former vice president Joe Biden criticized Title X rule and promised to reverse it if he becomes the president.

“The Trump Administration’s Title X rule is a direct attack on Planned Parenthood and the crucial services the organization provides. Access to health care could be taken away from millions of women. It’s wrong, and as president I will reverse it,” Biden tweeted.

Beto O’Rourke called on supporters to donate to Planned Parenthood.

Trump is taking tens of millions of dollars away from Planned Parenthood—jeopardizing the health of more than a million people across our country. Please donate to Planned Parenthood today, so Trump can’t stop patients from receiving the care they need,” he tweeted.

Elizabeth Warren demanded the new rule be vetted in the courts.

“The Trump administration is deliberately obstructing low-income people’s access to basic health care services & interfering in medical decisions made by patients & their doctors. If the administration won’t #ProtectX, then the courts must,” she tweeted.

Kirsten Gillibrand also blamed Trump administration for “hurting Americans in need of basic health care.”

“This administration is trying to hold health care providers hostage in order to restrict patients’ reproductive rights. The people who’ll be hurt by it are Americans in need of basic health care. It’s despicable. I stand with Planned Parenthood,” she tweeted.

Kamala Harris called Title X rule a “disgrace” and claimed to undo it on her first day in office, if she becomes the president.

“Trump’s domestic gag rule is forcing Planned Parenthood out of Title X, limiting access to affordable birth control and critical reproductive care for millions of people. This is a disgrace. As president, I will undo this gag rule on my first day in office,” she tweeted.

“Students For Trump” movement hit back Harris, saying “I think what you’re trying to say is, President Trump, in large part, defunded Planned Parenthood. Another win for the Trump Administration and the Pro-Life movement!”

Bernie Sanders asked the Congress ‘to take action to overturn this outrageous rule.’

“This is the agenda of the Trump administration: to keep millions of women, especially low-income women, from getting health care they need. What a disgrace. Congress must take action to overturn this outrageous rule,” he tweeted.

Supporting to defund Planned Parenthood

In response to Bernie Sanders, Ashley StClair an activist who identifies herself as a freedom fighter and patriot said, “You talk about the death penalty being applied disproportionately to people of color (convicted of murder) yet you are one of Planned Parenthood’s biggest supporters. Because of PP, an innocent black baby has the same chance of being born as aborted. What a double standard!”

Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) hailed the decision of Planned Parenthood, saying it’s good for hardworking taxpayer.

This achievement is a result of Senate Judiciary working w POTUS to confirm principled constitutionalist judges to deliver on our promises to the American people. Now, hardworking tax payer $$ will no longer be used by the gov to support Planned Parenthood,” he tweeted.

Melanie Israel, a life science researcher, reminded that Planned Parenthood reported $245 million in excess revenue, so it can “afford” to choose abortion over $60 million federal family planning funds.

“Friendly reminder that Planned Parenthood reported $245 million in excess revenue and $630 million in private contributions last year. Apparently they can “afford” to choose abortion over $60 million federal #TitleX family planning funds,” she tweeted.

Charlie Kirk, President of Turning Point USA Proud capitalist, offered facts about Planned Parenthood.
