Two bills introduced by Democrats to limit the marketing of guns were denounced by groups defending the right to use guns, protected by the Second Amendment to the Constitution.

One of the bills, introduced by House Majority Whip James E. Clyburn (D-S.C.) would allow the FBI to detain a gun transaction for up to 30 days while it checks the buyer’s background, previously only three days, American Military News reported on March 2.

The other bill was introduced by Rep. Mike Thompson (D-Calif.) and criminalizes private sales of used guns even among family members, forcing those interested in the business to seek government permission.

“It shall be unlawful for any person who is not a licensed importer, licensed manufacturer, or licensed dealer to transfer a firearm to any other person who is not so licensed, unless a licensed importer, licensed manufacturer, or licensed dealer has first taken possession of the firearm,” Thompson’s bill requires.

The National Shooting Sports Foundation called Clyburn’s bill “un-American,” also alluding to the fact that it reverses the current system used for background checks.

The National Rifle Association (NRA) said universal background checks “don’t stop criminals,” citing that a 2019 Department of Justice study noted that most criminals obtain their guns from the black market or through theft.

“This would make it incumbent upon the law-abiding citizen to prove his or her innocence to the government to exercise their Second Amendment right to purchase a firearm instead of the government being responsible for proving an individual is prohibited,” denounced Lawrence G. Keane, senior vice president of the NRA, according to The Washington Free Beacon.

The NRA alerted its followers to this “underhanded” move by Democrats, in one of its tweets, “SNEAKY: Late last night, Democrats in Congress introduced two EXTREME GUN CONTROL BILLS pushed by Biden & Pelosi. @RepThompson’s bill criminalizes private firearm transfers. @WhipClyburn’s bill gives unelected govt bureaucrats the power to indefinitely delay gun purchases,” the tweet states.

It added, “Majority Whip Clyburn: [Introduced] The bill giving unelected government bureaucrats the power to indefinitely delay gun purchases.”

These are just a few of the Democrats’ moves against the Second Amendment, because the Biden administration is apparently preparing every tool at its disposal to go against it.

They would ban “assault weapons,” or semi-automatic weapons. Also, the so-called high-capacity magazines, which is equivalent to all magazines.

They are also disabling immunity for gun manufacturers, which would be a major blow to the industry, among other limitations according to the alternative media Southern Maryland Online.
