Fox News TV hosts Tucker Carlson, Sean Hannity, and Laura Ingraham following Democratic lawmakers’ first public hearing amid an impeachment inquiry against President Donald Trump blasted the hearing as “a joke” orchestrated by “corrupt idiots.”
Carlson on Thursday, Nov. 14, pointed out that Democrats “really have no master plan for impeachment” and are “making it up as they go along.”
“In the end, impeachment almost certainly will hurt them,” Carlson noted. “The whole premise is just too dumb not to hurt them.”
Despite the day being “a disaster for Democrats” and GOP lawmakers “had a great day all the way around,” Hannity nevertheless contends, “this circus, this sham, this charade” should be “shut down immediately” for “the sake of the country.”
The inquiry, led by House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff (D-Calif.), was brought up by House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) following a whistleblower complaint that accused President Trump of a quid pro quo with Ukraine in a July 25 call by withholding military aid for political benefits.
But President Trump and Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelensky both denied any wrongdoing, which, to date, Democrats have not been able to prove otherwise.
Schiff claimed on Nov. 13 that “while the founders did not intend that impeachment be employed for mere differences over policy, they also made impeachment a constitutional process that the Congress must utilize as necessary.”
Carlson, quoting Schiff, pointed out that although “you’re not supposed to impeachment the president over policy differences,” that is “precisely … what [Democrats] are doing.”
Meanwhile on Nov. 14’s “Hannity,” the host of the show called the public hearing “THE WORST SHOW ON EARTH,” and branded Democrats as “a national disgrace.”
Hannity pointed out the hypocrisy of the Democratic-led inquiry as he said they are the ones guilty for abusing their power, when they claimed that President Trump was doing so.
Slamming Schiff as a “congenital liar,” Hannity blasted Democrats as “corrupt idiots” who look “dumb, bad, stupid, and shallow” after their first public “sham hearing.”
Ingraham dismissed the hearing as “DEMS’ IMPEACHMENT COLLAPSE” as their “STAR WITNESSES BURN OUT,” and lambasted impeachment as a “cataclysmic mistake” for the Democrats.
One of Ingraham’s guests, Rep. Chris Stewart (R-Utah) said the hearing “was really just a huge dud” and “there just wasn’t any surprised or any bombshells.”
CNN’s Oliver Darcy on Nov. 15 noted that the impeachment hearing won’t be able to sway conservatives and right-wing supporters.
“Don’t expect viewers, listeners, and readers of right-wing media to walk away from Wednesday’s impeachment hearings with a different opinion of President Trump’s behavior,” Darcy said. “In fact, it’s possible they might be more convinced than ever that Trump did nothing wrong. Why? Because right-wing media has largely—and unsurprisingly—focused on the moments in the hearing favorable to its preferred narrative.”
