Democrats on Monday, Oct. 21, blocked a vote to condemn and censure Chairman of the Intelligence Committee Adam Schiff (D-Calif.), of fraud.
Republican Rep. Andy Biggs (R-Ariz.), chairman of House Freedom Caucus introduced a resolution in late September to criticize Schiff for recreating a phone call between President Trump and Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelenskiy on July 25. The call triggered the House impeachment inquiry against President Trump.
Republicans also complained about the way Schiff is conducting the inquiry, saying the probe is being conducted in secret, and that they’ve been unable to see transcripts of closed-door interviews.
However, Democrats said Schiff has acted in a fair and bipartisan manner, according to The Associated Press.
The House voted 218-185 to postpone the vote, which was initially scheduled to take place on Monday night.
The Democrats are in control of the House by 235-199 seats.
