An elected official responsible for ensuring the Democratic Party passes legislation in the House appeared to lose control after being asked to be more cooperative on the next stimulus package.
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) overreacted during a televised interview about the CCP (Chinese Communist Party) Virus stimulus package.
CNN Anchor Wolf Blitzer had asked her to comment on fellow Rep. Ro Khanna’s (D-Calif.) advice to cooperate with the Republican Party and provide financial relief for struggling businesses and households.
“Dems can’t wait for the perfect deal, we have a moral obligation to get folks relief now,” Khanna said on Twitter. “78 million can’t afford normal expenses, 40 million are at risk of eviction, [and] 8 million small businesses might close forever.”
Pelosi refused to back down from demanding a $2.2 trillion package that is to be spent according to the Democratic Party’s wishes.
“Ro Khanna that is nice [but] that is not what we are going to do and nobody is waiting until February,” she said in a video shared by the Washington Free Beacon. “Andrew Yang, he is lovely, Ro Khanna, he is lovely [but] they are not negotiating this situation, they have no idea of the particulars, [and] they have no idea of what the language is here.”
Blitzer pressed Pelosi on why she was ignoring “millions of Americans” who are in between jobs and cannot put food on the table.
“The president just tweeted ‘Stimulus go big or go home,'” the anchor said. “He wants even more right now so why not work out a deal with him and do not let the perfect, as they say in Washington, defeat the good?”
However, Pelosi fired back that the anchor always defended the Republican Party’s side of the argument.
“I do not know why you and many of your colleagues are always an apologist for the Republican position,” she said.
She then strangely accused Blitzer of doing the same for former Democratic President Barack Obama.
“I did not come over here to have … so you are the apologist for the Obama?” she said. “Excuse me, God forbid, thank God for Barack Obama.”
The anchor clarified that he was no “apologist,” and was simply pointing out that many Americans are in “desperate need” due to government restrictions to help contain the deadly disease.
However, Pelosi continued her verbal assault against Blitzer.
“With all due respect, with all due respect, and you know we have known each other for a long time, you really do not know what you are talking about,” she said. “You evidently do not respect the chairmen of the committees who wrote these bills, and I wish you would respect the knowledge that goes into meeting the needs of the American people but, again, you have been on all jacked on defending the administration all this time.”
