A controversial Democrat allegedly misused his public office position to fast-track immunization against the deadly disease for family and friends.
Andrew Cuomo has been accused of abusing New York’s Office of the Governor to make the Empire State’s Department of Health vaccinate his relatives and close allies.
Epidemiologist Eleanor Adams was one of many clinicians who Cuomo and New York Health Commissioner Howard Zucker allegedly ordered to test-out the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) Virus vaccine.
According to the Times-Union, so-called test subjects included the governor’s mother, at least one of his sisters, and brother, CNN anchor, Chris Cuomo.
“If their job was to go test an old lady down in New Rochelle, that is one thing—that is actually good,” an anonymous whistleblower told the paper. “This was not that.”
Test subjects also included “influential people with ties to the administration” like Port Authority of New York and New Jersey Executive Director Rick Cotton, Metropolitan Transportation Authority Chairman Patrick Foye, press members, state legislators, and even their staff.
“It is being a little bit distorted with like a devious intent … [and] we made sure to test people they believed were exposed,” an official from the governor’s office told the Times-Union “All of this was being done in good faith, in an effort to trace the virus.”
The governor’s senior adviser, Richard Azzopardi, confirmed a variety of testing took place at the beginning of the pandemic.
“We were absolutely going above and beyond to get people testing—including in some instances going to people’s homes, and door-to-door in places like New Rochelle—to take samples from those believed to have been exposed to COVID [CCP Virus] in order to identify cases and prevent additional ones,” he said according to Fox News.
Azzopardi revealed many officials, media representatives, and civil servants indeed participated in the tests.
“Among those we assisted were members of the general public, including legislators, reporters, state workers, and their families who feared they had contracted the virus and had the capability to further spread it,” he said according to the broadcaster.
This is not the first time that Cuomo has created controversy. The Democrat previously admitted he was a serial workplace bully who took great pleasure in humiliating staff and even multiple Assembly members.
“You have seen me do it at briefings hundreds of times,” he said in a statement. “I have teased people about their personal lives, their relationships, about getting married or not getting married.”
He believes civil service would be an extremely dull job if he did not keep stirring up trouble at the New York State Capitol and while traveling on official business.
“I mean, no offense, and [I] only attempt to add some levity and banter to what is a very serious business,” he said.
