H.R. McMaster, former national security adviser to President Donald Trump, warns the next president about the need for international coordination to control the Chinese Communist Party (CCP).
“I think whoever is sworn in on January 20 has to increase international coordination and cooperation,” McMaster said in an interview with “Closing Bell” according to CNBC on Oct. 19.
McMaster, who is also a retired Army lieutenant general, insisted that the CCP is the biggest national security threat facing the United States, and that the country will need help “to stop a more ambitious and aggressive China.
He also highlighted the strong military investment of the CCP and the imposition of its authoritarianism in the world.
“Since the 1990s, China has increased its military spending by 800 percent. It is the largest peacetime military buildup in history,” he said, adding that the CCP has “been much more aggressive in exporting its authoritarian mercantilist model abroad.
As a basis for neutralizing this threat to the free world, McMaster recommends that nations work together.
“This isn’t just a U.S.-China problem, it’s a free-world-China problem, and if the world’s largest economies work together to counter Chinese [CCP] economic aggression as well as physical aggression, I think we can go a long way to convince Xi Jinping that his aggressive strategy isn’t working,” McMaster said.
In fact, the CCP has taken advantage of the United States, taking its industrial and military secrets, undermining its education system and culture, and interfering with its political system, which becomes even more worrisome with less than two weeks to go before the presidential election.
“The more we opened our markets to China [the CCP], the thinking went, the more we invested capital in China, the more we trained the PRC bureaucrats, scientists, engineers, and even military officers, the more China would become like us,” National Security Adviser Robert C. O’Brien said on June 24, 2020, in Phoenix, Arizona, according to the White House.
“We despise China’s grave human rights abuses, including Tiananmen Square. We turned a blind eye to China’s theft of technology that destroyed entire sectors of the American economy,” O’Brien added.
For O’Brien that was the biggest mistake made by U.S. administrations over the past 30 years.
“Let’s be clear, the Chinese Communist Party is a Marxist-Leninist organization. The Secretary General of the Party Xi Jinping sees himself as the successor of Josef Stalin,” O’Brien explained.
Given the close ties of the Democratic Party with the CCP, and in particular the Democratic candidate for the U.S. presidency, Joe Biden further raises concerns about possible CCP interference.
The recent revelations about the relationships of Joe Biden and his son Hunter with senior members of the CCP, reported by the New York Post on Oct. 14, and the billions of dollars they received in their negotiations are alarming.
