President Donald Trump’s impeachment for allegedly trying to use his position to force a foreign government to help him win the elections has put the media and political focus on Ukraine and the fact is the collusion seems to point in another direction.
When President Trump announced that he had had a telephone conversation with the newly elected president of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskiy, in which they had discussed how to tackle the endemic corruption in the country, a political and media storm was unleashed almost immediately.
Democratic leaders accused Trump of pressuring Ukraine and it was soon ‘revealed’ that there was a secret service agent who had heard the call and was willing to accuse the president of misconduct.
President Trump released the transcript of the call, which showed that no quid pro quo took place, but that did not stop the Democrats.
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) announced in September that the Democrats were going to initiate the impeachment of President Trump and the chairman of the House Intelligence Committee, Adam Schiff (D-Calif.), began a series of secret hearings, behind closed doors, without the president’s attorney being able to be present and without Republicans being able to call their own witnesses.
In the opinion of the president’s lawyer, the former mayor of New York Rudy Giuliani, all this media and political activity has only one purpose: to hide the real collusion with Ukraine, that of Joe Biden and Hillary Clinton.
“And what I’m talking about, this, it’s Ukrainian collusion, which was large, significant, and proven with Hillary Clinton, with the Democratic National Committee, a woman named Chalupa, with the ambassador, with an FBI agent who’s now been hired by George Soros who was funding a lot of it,” Giuliani said during an interview with Fox News in September.
Joe Biden not only pressured the Ukrainian executive while he was vice president under Barack Obama to fire the attorney general investigating the company that had hired his son Hunter for a millionaire salary, but he publicly presumed to have done so.
“The new prosecutor dropped the case, not just on Biden’s kid and the crooked company that Biden’s kid work for, Burisma. That was done as a matter of record in October of 2016, after the guy got tanked,” Giuliani said.
“He also dropped the case on George Soros’s company called AntAC. AntAC is the company where there’s documentary evidence that they were producing false information about Trump, about Biden,” he added.
And there’s more.
An investigation conducted by Politico revealed in 2017 that Ukrainian government officials helped Hillary Clinton undermine President Trump’s public image.
These officials disseminated documents involving Trump’s senior aide, Paul Manafort, in corruption cases and suggested they were investigating the matter, but all these allegations were dropped after the elections.
“A Ukrainian-American operative who was consulting for the Democratic National Committee met with top officials in the Ukrainian Embassy in Washington in an effort to expose ties between Trump, top campaign aide Paul Manafort and Russia, according to people with direct knowledge of the situation,” Politico stated.
“The Ukrainian efforts had an impact on the race, helping to force Manafort’s resignation and advancing the narrative that Trump’s campaign was deeply connected to Ukraine’s foe to the east, Russia. But they were far less concerted or centrally directed than Russia’s alleged hacking and dissemination of Democratic emails.”
According to Politico, Alexandra Chalupa, a Ukrainian-born lawyer, sought information to damage Trump’s campaign after media reports speculated that Paul Manafort had links to Russia.
“She [Chalupa] said that, when Trump’s unlikely presidential campaign began surging in late 2015, she began focusing more on the research, and expanded it to include Trump’s ties to Russia, as well. She occasionally shared her findings with officials from the DNC and Clinton’s campaign,” Politico reported.
A Ukrainian official, Andriy Telizhenko told Politico, “They were coordinating an investigation with the Hillary team on Paul Manafort with Alexandra Chalupa.”
Telizhenko said Chalupa told him and Shulyar, “If we can get enough information on Paul [Manafort] or Trump’s involvement with Russia, she can get a hearing in Congress by September.”
And this does seem like real collusion, using officials from a foreign country to seek compromising information about a presidential candidate’s adviser so that an investigation would have to be opened in Congress right in the middle of the election campaign, despite media and Democratic silence on the issue.
