A Democratic senator wants billions of dollars in federal funding to make big changes to the nation’s voting system.

Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) has demanded $4 billion from the U.S. Treasury to perform a major overhaul of America’s electoral system due to the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) Virus pandemic.

Warren wants the next CCP Virus relief package to include universal postal voting in all 50 states, online and same-day voter registration, at least 30 days of early voting with extended hours, and guaranteeing so-called hazard payments to every poll worker.

She justified the big spending by claiming the current public health emergency and economic crisis posed a “major threat” to the safety of all who intend to cast their votes at the general election on Nov. 3.

“The task of protecting our democracy has never been more vital,” she said on Twitter. “Congress must do its part—and governors and state officials must also step up to protect our elections. Join our fight to make sure every American can vote safely.”

Warren fears if the funds are not released Election Day will deliver “devastating consequences” to the Democratic Party and nation as a whole.

“Unless we act to hold our government accountable to adapt to this crisis, Election Day could have devastating consequences for our public health—and our democracy,” she said on her campaign website. “We are organizing to hold our government accountable because no American should have to choose between voting and staying safe and healthy.”

Warren also demanded other levels of government support major spending on the electoral voting system.

“Our government, including our state governments, have the power to adopt these policies but it is on us to make sure they do,” she said. “We are calling on governors, local officials, and the federal government to make sure every American can safely exercise their right to vote in November. We need your help fighting for it.”

Warren has started inviting her supporters to register their contact details on her website to help spread the message.

“In the coming days and weeks we will be taking action to demand these critical measures, so that every American can safely exercise their right to vote in November,” she said. “Join the fight to demand safe voting during the coronavirus pandemic.”

President Donald Trump suggested the current pandemic could subside, removing the need to implement tougher safety measures.

“Once we open up our great country, and it will be sooner rather than later, the horror of the invisible enemy, except for those that sadly lost a family member or friend, must be quickly forgotten,” he said on Twitter. “Our economy will boom, perhaps like never before.”
