America must select a special counsel immediately to examine several election irregularities, President Trump has urged.
The president has rejected any suggestion that there is no need to investigate the November election result thoroughly or that Trump supporters should accept Joe Biden as the next president without verifying whether the Democrat actually won.
“After seeing the massive Voter Fraud in the 2020 Presidential Election, I disagree with anyone that thinks a strong, fast, and fair Special Counsel is not needed, IMMEDIATELY,” the president said on Twitter. “This was the most corrupt election in the history of our Country, and it must be closely examined!”
The remarks came after outgoing U.S. Attorney General William Barr refused to allow the Department of Justice to appoint a special counsel to investigate “legitimate questions” about the election outcome.
Barr claimed there was no point in verifying who won the presidential race and would instead let Biden and the Democrats seize control of the White House.
“I think to the extent that there is an investigation, I think that it is being handled responsibly and professionally currently within the department,” he said in a video shared on YouTube. “To this point, I have not seen a reason to appoint a special counsel, and I have no plan to do so before I leave.”
Barr openly admitted that President Trump and his supporters rightly believe that election fraud took place. However, he still refused to yield to the will of nearly 30 House Republicans who cosigned a letter to the president, demanding that a special counsel begin thoroughly investigating the presidential election.
“There are [cases of] fraud unfortunately in most elections and, I think we are too tolerant of it,” Barr said. “I am sure there was fraud in this election, but I was commenting on the extent to which we have looked at suggestions or allegations of systematic or broad-base fraud that would affect the outcome of the election—I already spoke to that, and I stand by that.”
The president separately expressed disappointment with Georgia officials’ lack of urgency in making sure all ballots were lawfully cast.
“They are slow-walking the signature verification in Georgia,” he said on Twitter. “They do not want results to get out prior to January 6th. They know what they are trying so hard to hide—terrible people!”
Former Georgia Minority Leader Stacey Abrams recently used her so-called Fair Fight voting rights group to prevent concerned Georgians from confirming all ballots cast during the election were lawful.
The voting rights group accused True the Vote of terrifying Democratic Party supporters through verifying who actually won the election.
Fair Fight is launching a legal action to prevent True the Vote from challenging the presidential race outcome.
“We will not allow out-of-state agitators to violate the law and disenfranchise lawful Georgia voters in an 11th hour, desperate attempt to create chaos, burden county boards, and tip the election,” Fair Fight said on Facebook.
“True the Vote’s challenges are meant to intimidate voters and undermine our electoral process,” Fair Fight said. “Georgia has an ugly history of voter suppressors intimidating voters of color, and we will not tolerate efforts to suppress the vote.”
The group also ordered Georgians who support True the Vote to permanently vacate the Peach State, even though they live locally.
