A television celebrity decided to blame the president for his failure to keep a major political event running smoothly.

Fox News presenter Chris Wallace rejected any suggestion he allowed the presidential debate to get out of control on Sept. 29.

The first out of three debates was widely criticized as chaotic because there were too many interruptions from both the president and Democratic presidential candidate, Joe Biden.

A Fox News analysis estimated the president interrupted Biden’s answers and Wallace’s questions a total of 145 times throughout the 90-minute event.

“[That number] is way more than one a minute,” Wallace said in a video shared on Air.TV. “[President Trump] bears the primary responsibility for what happened.”

Wallace revealed the situation quickly grew out of hand soon after he greeted the audience.

“When the president started engaging with Biden, I thought we are going to have a real debate here,” he said. “It became clearer and clearer over time that this was something different, and that the president was determined to try to butt-in and throw Joe Biden off.”

Wallace admitted his several attempts to moderate the pair repeatedly failed to bring order to the event.

“It kept escalating,” he said. “I began being more forceful and, at a certain point 45-minutes in, I called a halt to the debate for a moment and said, ‘This really is not serving America and please stop the interruptions.’ The president said, ‘Well why don’t you admonish him?’ I said, ‘Because you are doing a lot more of the interrupting, Mr. President.’ Biden was doing some, no question about it but less than half as many times as the president.”

He even became quite distressed about failing to moderate the debate and witnessing his “own plan blow up.”

“I had just gotten over the post-traumatic stress disorder and then you put me right back into it,” he said.

The president expressed a very different opinion about the debate and believes he served the American people well with his tough stance against the Democrats for failing to deliver on election promises.

“I did what the corrupt media has refused to do: I held Joe Biden accountable for his 47 years of lies, 47 years of betrayals, and 47 years of failure,” he said on Twitter. “The whole nation saw the truth, Joe Biden is too weak to lead this country.”

He also believes the majority of viewers found the debate to be very engaging television content.

“Highest cable television ratings of all time, second-highest overall television ratings of all time,” he said on Twitter. “Some day these fake media companies are going to miss me very badly.”
