A Democrat who wants to be the next president will restrict civilian firearm use so radically that it will cause gun makers to go out of business for good.

If Joe Biden succeeds at removing the Protection of Lawful Commerce in Arms Act, the nation’s entire firearms sector could financially collapse.

Breitbart reported the legislation, which former President George W. Bush enacted during 2005, granted federal protections to help prevent gun makers from being targeted by frivolous lawsuits.

However, the Democratic presidential nominee now wants to repeal those protections.

“Biden campaigned on opening up firearm manufacturers to suits tied to the criminal misuse of the products they make,” Breitbart journalist AWR Hawkins said.

Biden previously revealed he regretted giving the firearms industry a “loophole” to prevent them from being sued on behalf of an estimated 40,000 Americans who die each year from gun-related injuries.

“This law protects these manufacturers from being held civilly liable for their products, a protection granted to no other industry,” the Biden 2020 campaign website said. “Biden will prioritize repealing this protection.”

He also intends to make sure “weapons of war” are no longer available to civilians through reviving the Democratic Party’s ban on assault weapons and high-capacity magazines.

“Joe Biden will enact legislation to once again ban assault weapons,” the campaign website said. “The ban on assault weapons will be designed to prevent manufacturers from circumventing the law by making minor changes that do not limit the weapon’s lethality … [and] Biden will also use his executive authority to ban the importation of assault weapons.”

Biden would also introduce a federal buy-back scheme to compensate assault weapon and high-capacity magazine owners who voluntarily surrender their weapons. There is no indication of how much the compensation would be and whether it would fully cover the original purchase price.

“This will give individuals who now possess assault weapons or high-capacity magazines two options: sell the weapons to the government, or register them under the National Firearms Act,” the campaign website said.

Biden would also close several “hate crimes,” “Charleston,” and “fugitive from justice” loopholes that allegedly allow dangerous people to purchase and bear firearms.

To close the hate crime loophole, Biden would enact legislation prohibiting an individual “who has been convicted of a misdemeanor hate crime or received an enhanced sentence for a misdemeanor because of hate or bias in its commission” from purchasing or possessing a firearm.

“The Biden administration will restore these records and enact legislation to make clear that people facing arrest warrants are prohibited from purchasing or possessing firearms,” the campaign website said. “End the online sale of firearms and ammunition. Biden will enact legislation to prohibit all online sales of firearms, ammunition, kits, and gun parts.”

Jamison Associates founder Kevin Jamison believes the measures are intended to deliberately ruin the livelihood of gun manufacturers.

“The guys pushing these lawsuits, they do not care if they win, they care if they can force these companies to hemorrhage money,” he told the Daily Caller. “They are in the business of putting gun companies out of business.”

Jamison is concerned that if President Donald Trump does not stay in the Oval Office for another four years, Biden will “destroy” the entire firearms sector.

“There will be no place to buy guns, and that is what they are looking for,” he said. “They want to make it as expensive to own a gun as humanly possible—and as difficult. If they get even part of their wish list, they won.”
