The U.S. Catholic League, in a statement on Monday, Dec. 14, condemned both Joe Biden’s false Catholic faith and the “hypocrisy” of legacy media that flatter the Democratic candidate’s alleged beliefs. The league accused them of making political use of religious beliefs for matters convenient to their ends, but without respecting the true precepts of the Catholic Church that are antagonistic to the leftist ideologies defended by the media.
The president of the Catholic League, Bill Donohue, said in a statement published on the official page of the league condemning the actions of the media who, in his opinion, use the false Catholic faith of the Democratic candidate Joe Biden from a political perspective, seeking to generate sympathy for him in religious sectors, while promoting ideologies opposed to Christianity such as abortion, homosexuality, the destruction of the family, and debauchery.
Donohue in his statement refers to media such as CNN and The Washington Post who speak of Joe Biden’s supposed “devout Catholicism” and report on his Sunday visits to church and “the rosary he always carries with him. Clearly the media is attracted to his faith.”
It is worth noting that while they flaunt Biden’s faith they condemn the religious acts of his political opponents such as President Trump, or the recent attacks on Judge Amy Coney Barrett’s religious beliefs.
So what accounts for the imbalanced treatment? What is the media’s interest in constantly showing Biden’s alleged Catholic faith?
The explanation is that Biden is the best Catholic for the left, because while he is brandishing a rosary and makes speeches about faith, he rejects the Catholic Church’s teachings on abortion and marriage, promotes gender ideology, contraception, and sterilization.
While some sectors of the Church have been rejected for supporting Biden and the Democrats, others like former Archbishop Charles Chaput were completely critical of Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden, regarding the inconsistency between his ideals and speeches and the supposed Catholic faith he claims to have.
“Public figures who identify themselves as ‘Catholic’ give the faithful a scandal when they receive Communion by giving the impression that the Church’s moral laws are optional,” Chaput wrote.
One of the issues that resonates most strongly with believers is Biden’s position on abortion. Just under a month ago, he participated in an event with NBC where he answered questions from the public, one of which concerned the issue of abortion in the United States, to which Biden responded decisively, assuring that if the Supreme Court attempts to overturn legislation authorizing abortion, he will fight to make abortion “the law of the land,” the Daily Caller reported.
In mid-September, Catholic Vote launched a digital ad campaign to expose Biden’s anti-Catholic story.
Brian Burch, president of Catholic Vote, said, “Joe Biden’s record makes it clear that he will not protect our Catholic values or defend our way of life. For Catholics who treasure their faith and their freedom to live it, Biden’s presidency represents an existential threat.”
On the other hand, Archbishop Carlo Maria Viganó, in a new letter published recently, spoke of clear electoral fraud in the U.S. presidential election and the connections of Democratic candidate Joe Biden to the deep state and the media.
Donohue concluded, “The moral of the story is plain: It is perfectly fine to be a Catholic public official just so long as he or she rejects the teachings of the Church on matters of public policy, even when those policies are life and death issues.”
