Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden said this week the United States has a “obligation” to grant illegal aliens healthcare funded by taxpayers.
During a campaign stop in California on Wednesday, the former vice president told the crowd that illegal aliens — who violated US law — are entitled to medical care.
“I think that anyone who is in a situation where they’re in need of healthcare, regardless of whether they are documented or undocumented, we have an obligation to see that they are cared for,” Biden said.
“That’s why I think we need more clinics around the country,” he added.
The fact that many illegal aliens enter America illegally across the southern border was dismissed by Biden.
This is the second time that Biden has made very controversial remarks about illegal aliens in recent weeks.
While speaking at an event for the U.S. Hispanic Chamber of Commerce in March 2014, Biden asserted that the roughly 11 million immigrants who broke the law to illegally enter the United States are “already American citizens.”
“You know, 11 million people live in the shadows. I believe they’re already American citizens,” Biden said.
“These people are just waiting, waiting for a chance to contribute fully. And by that standard, 11 million undocumented aliens are already Americans, in my view,” he added.
