Former President Bill Clinton, who was impeached two decades ago, offered President Trump some advice on how to handle the ongoing impeachment inquiry.

In an interview with CNN, on Thursday, Nov. 14, Clinton said President Trump should leave the impeachment fight to his staff and focus on his agenda.

“My message would be, look, you got hired to do a job,” Clinton said. “You don’t get the days back you blow off. Every day is an opportunity to make something good happen.”

“And I would say, ‘I’ve got lawyers and staff people handling this impeachment inquiry, and they should just have at it,'” he continued. “Meanwhile, I’m going to work for the American people. That’s what I would do,” according to the Hill.

Clinton was one of two presidents in U.S. history to be impeached. Former President Andrew Johnson experienced the similar drama in the mid-19th century. Both of them were acquitted in the Senate. President Richard Nixon resigned before the House could vote on the articles of impeachment.

President Trump already appeared to have been doing what Clinton said. He has already marked some milestones since the Democrats launched a formal impeachment inquiry against him in September: obliterating the leader of the most ruthless and violent terror organization in the world, Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, launching a fight against the drug crisis, signing a trade deal with Japan, to name a few.

On Wednesday, the first day of public impeachment hearings, President Trump had a White House meeting with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and said he hasn’t watched the hearings and “would much rather focus on peace in the Middle East.”

Democrats are pursuing the impeachment inquiry based on a whistleblower complaint who alleged that President Trump abused his power of office and jeopardized national security for political gain. President Trump has denied the claim and called Democrats the “Do Nothing” party.

“While the Do Nothing Democrats FAIL the American People, and continue the Impeachment Scam, my Administration will continue to deliver REAL RESULTS, as seen over the past month, below!” he tweeted earlier this month with video showing the administration’s achievements.
