The mental health of Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden has been called into question in various public speeches in which he loses his train of thought, leading to concerns about his mental health.
On Tuesday, Oct.13, former White House personal physician Ronny Jackson said he was “convinced” that former Vice President Joe Biden does not have the mental capacity to assume the presidency of the country.
As reported by the Washington Examiner, Jackson said, “I’m pretty familiar with what it takes both physically and cognitively to do that job and what the demands of that job are.”
“As a citizen, not as a candidate running for Congress, but as a citizen of this country, I’ve watched Joe Biden on the campaign trail and I am concerned and convinced that he does not have the mental capacity, the cognitive ability, to serve as our commander-in-chief and our head of state,” Jackson added.
Jackson, who is now a Republican U.S. congressional candidate for the 13th District in Texas, assessed Biden’s status last August, saying he seemed “lost.”
“The best way I can describe him every time I see him is that he’s just lost,” Jackson said. “I won’t make any particular diagnosis about dementia. But what I will say is that something is not right.”
Jackson made it clear that he was not making any medical assumptions, “I’m not making a medical evaluation. In fact, I don’t even practice medicine right now. I’m not doing that.”
Jackson referred to a Biden campaign event in Ohio, particularly remembering the moment when the Democratic candidate could not remember a senator’s name—Mitt Romney (R-Utah) and mistakenly said he was running for the Senate, not the White House, according to The Hill.
The 77-year-old former vice president has repeatedly addressed questions about his cognitive abilities, ruling out any dysfunction.
Earlier this year, Biden ironically stated, “I can’t wait to compare my cognitive ability with the cognitive ability of the man I’m up against.”
The Biden campaign as well as mainstream media have been accused of covering up Biden’s mental condition and so far statements from the comfort of his home due to the current pandemic have cast doubt on the spontaneity of his conversations.
As Breitbart News noted, in April, while holding a casual conversation during an interview with CBS’s “The Late Late Show,” Biden showed a photo from years ago in which he appears with his children and at one point the glass seems to reflect the green text of a teleprompter.
On Sept. 10, national press secretary TJ Ducklo avoided a question asked by Fox News anchor Bret Baier about whether the presidential candidate used a teleprompter to answer reporters’ questions during interviews.
On Tuesday, Oct. 13, the Washington Examiner/YouGov released a survey in which 60% of Americans said they were “very” or “quite” concerned about the age of the former vice president, compared to 45% who say the same about President Donald Trump.
The poll, which followed partisan lines and included nearly 1,200 registered voters, revealed that Democratic voters are more likely to be concerned about the age of the former vice president.
