Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden predicted that President Donald Trump would try to push back the general election amid the CCP Virus pandemic so he could possibly win.
“Mark my words, I think he is going to try to kick back the election somehow, come up with some rationale why it can’t be held. That’s the only way he thinks he can possibly win,” Biden said at an online fundraiser on Thursday night, April 23, Fox News reported.
Biden accused the president of already trying to undermine the election and making it more difficult for Americans to vote by working to block emergency funding for the cash-strapped U.S. Postal Service (USPS), which would handle tens of millions of ballots this fall.
According to The Associated Press, the administration maneuvered to ensure that USPS got no direct assistance in the $2 trillion CCP Virus aid package.
Speaking to donors at the campaign event, Biden said, “We have to make it easier for everybody to be able to vote, particularly if we are still basically in the kind of lockdown circumstances we are in now.”
Biden criticized Trump for opposing direct aid for USPS and denigrating mail balloting after the president said earlier this month that he believes mail-in voting is “horrible,” “corrupt,” and it allows voters to “cheat.”
President Trump then suggested, “You get thousands and thousands of people sitting in someone’s living room signing ballots all over the place. … I think that mail-in voting is a terrible thing.”
“It shouldn’t be mail-in voting,” he added. “It should be: you go to a booth and you proudly display yourself. You don’t send it in the mail where people can pick up. All sorts of bad things can happen … by the time it gets in and is tabulated.”
But Biden accused the president of “already trying to undermine the election with false claims of voter fraud and threatening to block essential COVID assistance if any extra funds go to the U.S. Postal Service.”
“What in God’s name was that about other than trying to let the word out that he’s going to do all that he can to make it very hard for people to vote, ” Biden added, describing President Trump’s approach as “un-American.”
“We have to figure out how we are going to conduct a full and fair and safe election in November and no one should have to risk their lives to cast a ballot,” the former vice president continued.
