Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden will resume his in-person rally itinerary with a stop in the battleground state of Pennsylvania on Monday, Aug. 31, marking a return to the campaign trail after the CCP Virus (coronavirus) pandemic shuttered the events five months ago.

The Biden campaign said in a news release on Sunday evening that Biden will deliver a speech in the Pittsburgh area, focusing on whether the American people feel safe under the administration of President Donald Trump, The Hill reported.

“On Monday, August 31, Joe Biden will travel to southwestern Pennsylvania to lay out a core question voters face in this election, ‘Are you safe in Donald Trump’s America?'” the press release states.

The campaign said that the CCP Virus runs unchecked throughout the United States, killing thousands of people a week, turning the economy upside down, and parents are struggling to send their children to school safely.

“And Donald Trump continues to fan the flames of division and encourage chaos in our cities, rather than trying to calm tensions and heal this country,” the campaign claimed.

“On Monday, Joe Biden will offer a different vision for a better future in Joe Biden’s America,” it added.

In addition to Pennsylvania, Biden said during a virtual fundraising event last week that he would spend time in other states, including Wisconsin, Minnesota, and Arizona.

Biden’s new events mark a change of course for the Democratic presidential nominee who has stuck largely to virtual events most of the summer, after being forced off the campaign trail and away from in-person events since March due to the CCP Virus pandemic.

The Trump campaign has repeatedly hit Biden for not appearing in person. In some tweets on Sunday, President Trump mocked the Democratic rival for his in-person rally, saying, “He’ll go back to basement soon!”

“Joe Biden is coming out of the basement earlier than his hoped for ten days because his people told him he has no choice, his poll numbers are PLUNGING!,” Trump wrote.

“Going to Pittsburgh, where I have helped industry to a record last year, & then back to his basement for an extended period. His problem is interesting,” the president continued.

“He must always be weak on CRIME because of the Bernie Sanders Radical Left voter. If he loses them, like Crooked Hillary did, he is ‘toast,’ and many will vote for me because of TRADE (Bernie was good on trade). Joe MUST always be weak on crime!” he added.

In another tweet later, Trump questioned when Biden is going to criticize the anarchists, thugs, and agitators in antifa and to suggest bringing up the National Guard in “BADLY RUN & Crime Infested Democrat Cities & States.”
