More and more social sectors are refusing to comply with the arbitrary confinement orders so harmful to a community’s mental and social health, imposed by Democrats who abuse their power.
“It’s just up to all of us to stand up and stay open. I’m not one to try to create some sort of a rebellion but at the end of the day, there’s a tipping point,” were the words of Andrew Gruel, founder and CEO of the successful Slapfish Restaurant Group, when interviewed by Fox News.
It is increasingly evident that state and local officials who are friends with the lockdown and isolation orders to “defend” society from the CCP Virus are simply improvising the measures as they go along, without a logical plan that really considers what is best for all.
Very often one can see politicians making decisions that are not based on science or data, but on capricious and meaningless authoritarianism. At the same time that the CDC is throwing out alarming figures of dubious origin about the infections and deaths from the virus, it seems that the politicians of the left are feeding on those numbers to justify more closures and more isolation, but without giving solutions to the problems that this is generating: greater poverty, delinquency, mental health problems and suicides among many others.
The latest restrictions in California have ended up sinking thousands of businessmen who were already having a hard time because of the previous months of confinement.
Gruel, a well-known California chef, assured Fox that if restaurants are forced to close before the holidays, many will not be able to survive, joining the tens of thousands that have already closed forever.
Democratic Gov. Gavin Newsom decreed a new curfew for all of California that went into effect Saturday, Nov. 21, at 10 p.m. until Dec. 21, with the possibility of being extended. However, thousands of citizens across the state demonstrated against it and took to the streets in defiance of the rules imposed, claiming their individual rights and freedoms.
The Democratic governor’s provisions drew criticism from various quarters, especially from law enforcement agencies, who argued that there is no need to resort to such drastic measures that limit civil liberties.
Margaret Mims, the Fresno County sheriff, was one of these people, who also declared that she would not penalize residents who do not follow the curfew.
“We have a lot of things to do, including taking away guns from gang members, stopping narcotics trafficking, and saving children from internet predators,” Mims explained during a Thursday afternoon, Nov. 19, briefing.
“We’re not going to turn normally law-abiding citizens into criminals,” she said, explaining that the department will not set up any checkpoints or stop people from checking their reason for being out after curfew.
According to Fox News, Merced County deputy sheriffs, Madera Police, Visalia Police, and Kings County deputies, among others, plan to continue with their usual activities rather than focus on the curfew.
Last week, Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge James Chalfant called the mayor and county health officials into consultation about this arbitrary exercise of power, and ordered them to present scientific evidence to justify the ban on outdoor eating. “A public health risk-benefit analysis must be done. It’s not just about the risk of spreading disease. You have to talk about the benefit of keeping restaurants open as well,” Chalfant said.
The fact that some sectors of the police force, along with judges like James Chalfant, religious authorities, and business people are questioning leftist and Democratic politicians who promote endless quarantines, is a good indication that there is hope that the situation by no means should be naturalized and will not be normalized.
