An actress, who suffers from a mental health condition, accused the head of the U.S. government of being responsible for tens of thousands of deaths caused by the deadly Asian disease.

Barbra Streisand suggested American lives could have been spared from the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) Virus, if the Democratic Party had won the 2016 presidential election.

“I wrote a song called ‘Don’t Lie to Me’ after [President Donald] Trump was elected because he was a serial liar,” she said on Twitter. “Now, with more than 20,000 people dead because of his incompetence and lies, he has proven that he cannot handle the truth.”

The Hollywood veteran, who is open about her near 30-year struggle with social anxiety disorder, claimed the incumbent president was “unfit” to lead the nation in a worldwide pandemic, especially in a “time of crisis.” She wanted to hold him responsible for more than 23,600 Americans who died from the CCP Virus according to the Worldometer website.

“This pandemic has the potential to bring out the best in us—not only as citizens of the United States but as a global community with a common goal,” she said on Twitter. “Sadly, a lack of leadership compounds the fear and confusion we might feel. It has always been my strong belief that our commitment to the truth is our pathway to salvation.”

Streisand commended primary health care professionals for helping to contain the CCP Virus, which has already infected more than 586,900 people across the nation.

“In times of crises we join together as one nation indivisible,” she said on Twitter. “We salute our true heroes—the doctors, nurses, scientists, clinicians, pharmacists, food workers, and every first responder who compromises their own safety and well-being to ensure ours.”

The actress previously feared the upcoming general election would give the incumbent president another four years in the Oval Office.

“The ‘beacon of hope’ that is America could be extinguished if he [the incumbent president] is given another four years,” she said in a commentary published by Variety Magazine.

Streisand also accused the Trump administration of having a weak response to the worldwide CCP Virus outbreak because the president does not believe in science.

“Now we are facing another kind of war against the coronavirus,” she said. “[President] Trump got rid of our pandemic specialist two years ago and has defunded the Centers for Disease Control [and Prevention] because he continues to ignore science,” she claimed.

However, the president released a timeline of several early measures his administration introduced to reduce the impact of the disease.

“Media keep asking what the Trump administration was doing in February to combat the coronavirus after restricting travel from China,” he said on Twitter. “There is a helpful timeline for that.”

The actress has a history of making controversial statements about the president. In October 2019 she shared a gory Twitter image of House Speaker Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) skewering the president with her black high-heeled shoe.
