Most North Carolina voters believe America is heading in the wrong direction since the Biden administration seized power, a new poll revealed on Sept. 28.
A High Point University survey shows 60% believe the nation went seriously off track in the past eight months. This compares to 28% who claim the United States is heading in the right direction, and 12% who are unsure.
The study polled 876 North Carolina residents between Sept. 10 and 24. A significant 48% of them are dissatisfied with Joe Biden’s performance in the Oval Office. This compares to 38% who approve and 14% who are undecided.
The COVID-19 pandemic and U.S. military withdrawal from Afghanistan continue to be hot topics facing the United States.
On COVID-19, 46% of North Carolinians disapprove of the job Biden is doing, compared to 42% who approve.
On the Afghanistan issue, 57% disapprove of Biden’s response to the crisis while only 25% approve.
Most respondents also disapprove of Biden’s handling of health care (43% versus 38% approval), the economy (52% versus 34%), and his performance as commander in chief (50% versus 33%).
These results would arguably raise alarm for Biden and the Democrats ahead of the 2022 midterm elections. North Carolina, a battleground state, can serve as a window into how the state perceives the Biden administration, according to The Hill.
CNN reported the poll results “should terrify Democrats ahead of 2022.”
The Des Moines Register/Mediacom Iowa Poll previously found a whopping 62% of Iowans disapprove of Biden’s performance. Only 31% approved of the incumbent’s work.
