An online movement is picking up momentum to hold a top Democrat accountable for disregarding social distancing rules.
Media Action Network has collected thousands of petition signatures for House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) to be penalized for breaching CCP (Chinese Communist Party) Virus restrictions at eSalon, 3 miles north of downtown San Francisco, on Aug. 31.
At the time of publication, more than 23,400 had signed out of the original target of 25,000 signatures. Supporters want San Francisco Police Chief William Scott to charge and prosecute Pelosi for walking through the salon without wearing her face mask and having her hair washed and dried despite a city order for beauty salons to stay closed until Sept. 1.
“Laws are not just for the ‘little people,'” the petition said. “Not only did Nancy Pelosi knowingly violate health ordinances but just destroyed a business because she could not take a[n] ounce of responsibility … at a very minimum, Nancy Pelosi must be prosecuted by San Francisco for her flaunting of COVID [CCP Virus] regulations.”
The demand came after Democratic San Francisco Mayor London Breed decided not to fine her fellow party member despite Fox News sharing surveillance footage that clearly shows the alleged offense.
“It is unfortunate this conversation has blown up the way that it has and distracted us from the real issue,” Breed said in a statement. “We can either focus on blaming and saying who should do what but we have bigger issues as it relates to this country, and I have a tremendous amount of respect and appreciation for the hard work that Nancy Pelosi does every single day.”
Salon owner Erica Kious confirmed on Sept. 9 that she would permanently close down her business due to the high number of threats she received after exposing Pelosi for putting others’ health at risk.
“I am actually done in San Francisco and closing my doors, unfortunately,” she said, according to the Daily Wire. “I started to just get a ton of [negative] phone calls, text messages, emails, all my Yelp reviews … I am actually afraid to go back, just because of the messages and emails I have been getting, it is a little scary and sad.”
Kious’s supporters have set up a GoFundMe fundraiser to help her start over. The page was so popular donations were disabled after reaching $336,543.
News of this overwhelming display of generosity in the community eventually reached the Oval Office.
“Salon owner [that] Nancy Pelosi attacked raises over $310,000 via Breitbart News,” President Donald Trump said on Twitter. “Great.”
