The Archdiocese of New Orleans, issued a statement to the Catholic faithful on Feb. 26, warning that the new vaccine from Johnson & Johnson is “morally compromised” because it uses cells from aborted babies.

In the statement, the archdiocese explains that there has been an intense debate among Catholics regarding the use of the vaccine against the CCP Virus from the moral and ethical aspect due to the fact that cells from aborted children have been used in the development and testing of these vaccines.

The other two vaccines from Pfizer and Moderna laboratories, according to the archdiocese, also use cells from aborted babies at the beginning, but apparently not in the production line, so they recommend the faithful to opt for these two options.

“The two vaccines currently available from Pfizer and Moderna do not rely on cell lines from abortions in the manufacturing process and therefore can be morally acceptable for Catholics as the connection to abortion is extremely remote,” the statement explains.

But it warns about the most recent vaccine developed by Johnson & Johnson.

“The archdiocese must instruct Catholics that the latest vaccine from Janssen/Johnson & Johnson is morally compromised as it uses the abortion-derived cell line in development and production of the vaccine as well as the testing,” the archdiocese states.

The archdiocese states that getting the vaccine for the Chinese virus is entirely a personal matter for the individual but at the same time condemns the immorality of the laboratory for developing a vaccine using aborted babies, feeding this sinful industry.

“In no way does the Church’s position diminish the wrongdoing of those who decided to use cell lines from abortions to make vaccines,” the archdiocese said, “Catholics should choose to receive either of those vaccines [Moderna or Pfizer] rather than to receive the new Johnson & Johnson vaccine because of its extensive use of abortion-derived cell lines.”

This is not the first time Catholic leaders have used their position in the Church to warn people of faith about the relationship of vaccines to the abortion industry, in addition to other side effects, such as immediate deaths, or severe and permanent damage that have been reported in different parts of the world.

Archbishop Joseph F. Naumann of Kansas City, Kansas, chairman of the  Pro-Life Committee within the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops,, also presented a similar, though somewhat more moderate opinion in an interview with a religious media outlet.

“We said that it is permissible for Catholics to receive the vaccine if they choose to do so, and their motivation may be a positive one, concern for spreading the virus to the vulnerable in our society …. but you should not be compelled to do so,” Naumann said.

He added, “People may have good reasons for not wanting to be vaccinated. The Pfizer and Moderna vaccines have a remote connection to cell lines that came from tissue taken from aborted babies, and they may want to separate themselves from that. People also may have concerns about the side effects of vaccines.”

According to data from the Center for Communicable Disease Prevention and Control, as of mid-February there were 1,170 reported deaths directly caused by CCP Virus vaccines in the United States, just two months since mass vaccination began.

In Great Britain 143 people died for the same reason, and in Sweden 69 deaths were reported, although because some governments sign confidentiality agreements with the laboratories, it is very likely that some data is not available to the public and the number could be higher.
