Two seniors in Bolivia might be the oldest living people on Earth. Zenon and Julia are both 118 years old, born in 1900.

Despite the fact that they’re the same age and live in the same country, Zenon and Julia have very different lifestyles. Zenon has always had a limited diet — he grew up eating quinoa, but now he eats ground wheat and juice. His daughter cares for him.

Julia, on the other hand, is a fan of something much more decadent than ground wheat: cake. At her 118th birthday party in late October, Julia celebrated by playing the charango, a kind of lute. Her friends and admirers clapped along with the music.

So are these two the oldest people to have ever lived? Well, not quite. The oldest woman to ever live survived until age 122, so Julia still has a few years to go before she breaks that record.

Zenon, though, might actually be the oldest man! As of right now, the record is held by a Japanese fellow, who lived until he was 116. Zenon’s ID card shows that he was born on August 21, 1900, which would make him 118, but experts have to verify that information before he can become the official record holder.
