A teenage football player asked a special needs girl to dance in front of the entire school and help her become “Queen for the night.”
Maddie Thompson Morley and Kooper Richardson of Folsom High School (FHS) in California had a delightful, memorable evening full of surprises at their prom thanks to Evening of Dreams (EOD), an organization committed to wonderful special needs guests.
Morley’s happiness likely multiplied when it came to announcing the night’s Queen.
“Here’s to you very first of all our Queen for the night. Would you please give a great round of applause to Maddie Morley!” said the host of the prom.
The joyful dance evening came following an unexpected “prom-posal” at FHS.
During a school meeting, the 16-year-old girl was stunned when Richardson came from behind the curtain and asked, “Would you go to Evening of Dreams with me?”
“I would like to,” Morley answered joyfully. Richardson then presented her with a bouquet and a hug.
The audience, of course, was snapping photos of the pair. Morley’s fans were delighted, and they cheered her on.
Richardson, a football player, even skipped a vacation to Disneyland to fulfill the desire of a special-needs girl.
“When Folsom High decided to do their senior trip to Disneyland, we found out that it was the exact same date as Evening of Dreams.” Kelly Richardson, his mother, revealed during an interview.
However, the player made his own decision without hesitation.
“You can go to Disneyland anytime. This is a once in a lifetime experience and I will not miss it,” Richardson said according to SBLY Shareably.
Morley had always wished to go to the prom, according to her mother.
“Going to prom. Going to a dance like this has been something she’s wanted to do since she was a little girl. And we never thought it would necessarily happen because there really isn’t historically a way for special-needs students to be included in a prom.” said Morley’s mother.
“This Evening of Dreams is just magic,” she went on to say.
According to its site, EOD is a special needs prom that started in 2010 at Capital Christian Center in Sacramento, California.
“Evening of Dreams celebrates the night with a red carpet affair, along with dates who are local students, hair styling, make-up, photographers, dinner, and dancing. “Each year, our goal is to create a night to remember for both our guest and all our volunteers.” stated the organization.
