Recent footage shows cars being swallowed into a sinkhole in Jerusalem June 7.

A giant sinkhole appeared near Shaare Zedek Medical Center in Jerusalem, swallowing three cars and a few trees. Luckily nobody was injured, Israel Police confirmed.

According to local reports, a special rescue crew searched for people who may have been trapped inside vehicles that had fallen into the hole.

The hole showed up near Highway 16, which runs underneath the hospital and parking lot. Tunnels are under construction in the area.

An investigation has been launched to find if there was any connection between the sinkhole and the tunnels.

The site was designated a danger zone in concerns about another collapse.

Jerusalem’s cenote (sinkhole) has been the third one so far this week. Two others appeared in Mexico and Jiangxi, China.

A massive sinkhole appeared in Puebla, Mexico on June 2.

It had a diameter of 5 meters when it first appeared, but it had grown to 80 meters in just a few hours. It’s still growing, and it’s about to devour a nearby house.

Subsoil water changes could be the cause of the sinkhole. Overexploitation of aquifers is blamed by experts, albeit the exact cause is unknown.
