“Their parents should be so proud, and im sure the serviceman was in heaven smiling down on them.”
Adults are often looked up to by children as role models. However, children often inspire others by setting a good example.
On Thursday Sept. 16, two youngsters in Indiana were cycling down the street then spotted the funeral taking place on the green nearby.
The lads hopped off their bikes and stood to attention quietely, arms folded behind their backs, as they showed respect to the departed veteran, according to Jacqui Hornbach, who recorded the scene on tape.
The deceased man was Charles Everett Yorn, 89. He formerly served in the United States Army. He went to work for an American medical technology firm once his tour of duty finished. He was employed there for 32 years.
At the time of the funeral, Jacquie Hornbach was close by the boys and thought photographing their good act would be a lovely touch.
Hornbach said, “To see these two young boys immediately stop and pay their respects to a passed serviceman, without any prompting or knowledge of anyone watching, was just so touching to see.”
However she pondered on whether or not to share the photos online. Fortunately, she decided that sharing them would be beneficial.
With all of the bad news these days, the world needs to see something positive.
She mentioned in her post, “I debated whether or not to post this, but with all the negative things going on, I thought this was needed. I was dog sitting for a friend last week and was enjoying the nice weather outside when a funeral procession came into the cemetery across the street. These two young men were riding their bikes and saw the flag of the deceased military man.”
She went on to say, “They immediately stopped riding, got off their bikes, and stood with respect as TAPS was being played. I had to snap a pic as I was so proud of these two young men. Their parents should be so proud, and im sure the serviceman was in heaven smiling down on them.”
As one YouTube user put it, “Those young men were taught respect and understand the sacrifice that Veteran and all Veterans have made for our country this act is something we don’t see to often anymore their parents are raising amazing young men.”
Another person stated, “There’s your hope and change right there. Good going young men…”
There was also a user who remarked on Facebook, “Thank you for posting this. There are good children in the world. They outnumber the bad but it’s the bad that make the news. These young men were raised the right way. Kudos to the parents.”
More people like the two lads are needed in the world.
With so much hatred and misunderstanding going on daily, it’s refreshing to see individuals respecting others even if they’re no longer physically there. The boys’ parents clearly did a fantastic job raising them.
