Paul Phillips, an elderly man of Skiatook, Oklahoma, decided to build a dream home many fishermen would absolutely love to have. The house is built strategically over a fish pond that has a trap-door-style fishing hole in the living room, so he can fish anytime he wants.
So why did he build his home over a fish-pond?
“I love to fish, I fish every day,” Philips said.
The only problem was there’s a certain spot at Oologah Lake he enjoyed fishing, and someone told him he can’t fish there and that upset him.
“One of these days I’ll have a place of my own where nobody can tell me I can’t fish there,” Phillips said.
Phillips initially bought a piece of land. Then he rented a backhoe to dig out the pond. Once that was complete he hired a contractor to start building the 1,850-square-foot residence that comes complete with a wrap-around porch, three bedrooms, three bathrooms, and a secret fishing hole in the living room.
So he took matters into his own hands and after a few months, he had a four-by-four foot hole in his living room, so now he can go fishing and no one can stop him.
He said the neighbors love the idea of the fish pond home.
“The lady next door, she just loves to fish, and this lady here, she can’t wait ’til spring to get here so she can hear the frogs a hollerin’,” Phillips said.
Phillips said he will live there for a while then sell it to build a bigger house, on a bigger pond, that’ll have bigger fish to catch!
Brilliant idea, and can’t wait to see more pictures and videos of this place!
