There are no limits to true love. One couple’s love was not only visible but also felt.
Kelly Anne and Anthony Ferraro met in New Jersey through a group of friends. Like lightning love, they decided to go on a date after they met.
Anthony is blind, so Kelly planned something unique for their first date. She chose a velvet dress for their first date, as it could feel nice when being touched upon.
When she told her sister, she laughed!
“I remember my sister making fun of me, because I was like, ‘I’m going to wear a velvet dress so he can feel it.’ She was like, ‘That is so corny, he’s not actually going to feel your dress just because he’s blind.’ I was like, ‘No he might, you don’t know,'” said Kelly Anne. “Then it ended up being something that was so important to him.”
Anthony competes in wrestling and judo and travels a lot. Kelly began going out with him. Kelly would explain the landscape in great detail when the two traveled together so Anthony could enjoy it in his way. She became his eyes for the world, as he put it.
“My whole life changed when I met Kelly. I remember not being able to see anything when I traveled,” he said. “She would describe these landscapes to me, like visually, where they would paint these pictures in my head. She literately became my eyes for the world.”
Their love grew to the point that they wanted to marry.
Kelly didn’t want to wear the typical white gown that most brides do. Instead, she wanted to reminisce about their first date. So she got a custom wedding dress with many textures so that Anthony could ‘see’ by feeling.
Kelly took his hands and placed them on her dress when they finally met at the altar.
Anthony was able to feel her in a manner that no other outfit had permitted him to. It made him feel as if he was touching an angel, reported Spotlight stories.
“She’s like, I’m here, I’m here, feel my dress,” he said. “My mind was blown, I started crying. It was just like I was able to see Kelly. That was the best part. I was able to feel her dress. When I was feeling the dress, it was just painting this image of an angel in my mind, and it was just so beautiful.”
The couple married and went on their merry way after a little sobbing session. It was precisely what Kelly had hoped for: a beautiful moment to both see and experience. Love isn’t merely a sentiment; it also entails action and sacrifice!
Kelly goes above and beyond for her love, serving as a lesson of acceptance for others.
“To put yourself in other people’s shoes, I think it really helps. But understanding everyone in life is different and going that extra step to just thinking about that other person, and kind of put yourself in their experiences,” said Anthony.
