Stacy and Babajide could not believe their eyes when their twin newborns looked completely non-identical. Although both parents are black, one of the baby boys strangely had white skin.

David has pale skin and golden hair, while Daniel has dark skin with black curls–a lot like sister Demilade, 5.

Health professionals revealed David suffers from oculocutaneous albinism. The hereditary disorder causes a lack of melanin in the skin, hair, and eyes. The condition does appear based on gender or color, and can impact anyone.

Children have a one in 3,000 to 20,000 risk of being born with albinism according to Shareably.

“We did not know about their differences while I was pregnant,” the 31 year-old mother said according to the publication. “The scan did not show such, so it was a huge surprise and the most amazing moment when the first twin (Daniel) came out with black hair and the second twin (David) came out with gold hair.”

Despite the lifelong condition, Stacy and her husband are overjoyed about the twins. The babies were born in Lagos, Nigeria, on Feb. 26, 2019.

“[Babajide] stood for more than 10 minutes staring at them, and said he was just looking at God’s wonderful work and that they are his best gift ever,” the mother recalled.

Although some people with albinism face health challenges like eye conditions, David is lucky to be in a stable condition. Nigeria has one of the highest rates of albinism in the world according to the publication.

“I have never had any negative comments and I am not scared of what people think,” Stacy said according to The Sun. “It feels great to me to be their mom. It does not matter to me what color their skin is because they are my babies.”

Apart from their apprearance the twins also have other differences. David prefers to sit back and see the life around him, while Daniel is more active.

“They are so adorable and it felt like we had been given a miracle,” the mother said according to the publication.

When the twins are spotted in Las Gidi, they are greeted as “local celebs.” People frequently stop the parents on the street and start asking questions.

“A lot of people have never seen anything like it and–because of that–they are quite popular,” she said according to The Sun. “I believe I am blessed and I am so proud of them.”

The parents set up an Instagram account to help others learn more about David’s albinism and watch the twins grow up.

“We opened an account for them because we believe they have a story to tell to the world, and also as a way of creating awareness,” Stacy said according to Shareably.
