When first responders go above and beyond the call of duty, which is these heartwarming moments that remind us of the good in this life.

In December 2016, the Monroe Fire Department in Louisiana responded to a call to the 100 block of North 20th Avenue for a possible stove fire.

After fire crews arrived, they found there was no fire but only the smell of burning electricity.

And after the investigation, they quickly realized there was a birthday cake in the oven, and it didn’t have time to finish baking.

This is where the story takes a turn.

Rather than be on their way, this crew of firefighters decided to take it upon themselves to buy a new birthday cake from Dairy Queen for the 4-year-old.

These first responders delivered it to the girl and also sang happy birthday to her.

“Thanks to the Dairy Queen in Monroe, the fire department was able to give the girl a cake and sing happy birthday to her,” the caption read.

No doubt about that fact. It sure made her fourth birthday especially memorable—even years later.
