The Australian actor, Chris Hemsworth, who is famous for his role “Thor” in the Marvel Universe franchise, announced on Instagram his donation and called on others to “chip in” and contribute funding the relief effort of Australia bushfires.
“As you’re well aware the bushfires in Australia have caused massive devastation,” Hemsworth said on his video posted to Instagram. “They continue to burn, there’s warmer weather on its way. We’re really still in the thick of it here, there’s plenty of challenging times ahead.”
“What we need is your support and your donations. I’m going to put forward a million dollars and I was hoping that all of you could contribute in any way, shape or form—every dollar counts.”
According to Hemsworth, the money will go to “the firefighters, the people on the frontlines, the people that have suffered, the communities that have taken a hit who are in desperate need of our support.”
He added, ‘I want to say a huge ‘thank you’ to everyone who’s sent all their well wishes and donations. It’s greatly appreciated here in Australia.’
He accompanied his video with the lengthy caption, which read: “Hi everyone. Like you, I want to support the fight against the bushfires here in Australia. My family and I are contributing a million dollars. Hopefully you guys can chip in too.”
“It really does make a difference, so dig deep! Love ya,” he wrote.
