Dr. Ben Carson, a retired pediatric neurosurgeon and former Secretary of Housing and Urban Development, in an interview on Friday, Feb. 26, described the push for left-wing transgender ideology on children, detailed in the new Equality Act and the progressive policies of the new Biden administration, as a genuine case of “child abuse.”

Carson is against those who promote sex change in children and adolescents, warning that this is not about science but abuse by those who seek to impose an ideology that goes against the traditional and biological values of the human species.

Neglecting biology

“Well, I think they have completely neglected biology. Biology tells us that there are males and there are females, and there’s a reason for that, and we also know that the human brain is an incredibly complex organ and it’s not fully developed until your mid- to late-twenties,” Carson told the Breitbart reporter.

“So why would you be asking a pre-adolescent about these complex issues?” Carson continued.“Why would we even be complicating their lives? Children are curious by nature, and of course they’re going to ask questions and explore things. That doesn’t mean that they want to change their sex. And to confuse them in that way, I think, is child abuse. It certainly has nothing to do with science. These radical things are actually going to ruin people’s lives long term.”

Carson also talked about the pivotal role played by the media and Big Tech in the development and imposition of this transgender ideology. In a way, he warned that the issue is present in many aspects of society, however, not enough is said about it in a critical way and when someone dares to do so, either by writing a book, an article on the Internet, or a video, they run the risk of being censored.

Parents need to protect children

Carson assure,: “Maybe there will be some consequences, so what? There were consequences for our Founders, but if they weren’t willing to accept those consequences, we would still be under British rule.” Then he encouraged listeners by saying, “So stop being chicken, go out and fight for what we believe in. If we allow them to have a platform and dictate everything without resistance, then they win.”

Democrats, since the presidential campaign and now with the power of the White House, have always promoted gender ideology, LGBT and particularly transgender issues as well.

Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.), on Thursday, Feb. 25, aligned with Carson’s thoughts, demanded that Rachel Levine, Biden’s nominee for assistant secretary of health and human services, explain her support for gender reassignment surgeries on minors.

According to The Federalist, during the Senate confirmation hearing to determine Levine’s tenure, Paul noted, “According to the WHO, gender mutilation is internationally recognized as a human rights violation.”

“American culture is now normalizing the idea that minors can be given hormones to prevent the biological development of their secondary sex characteristics (…) Do you think minors are capable of making a decision as transformative as changing their sex?” asked Paul.

Levine responded with ambiguous phrases and evaded the specific question.

In the face of Levine’s evasiveness, Paul pressed his question by making it more specific, “Do you support government intervention to override parental consent to administer puberty blockers, cross-sex hormones, and/or breast and genital amputation surgery to a child?”

Levine again evaded answering and only deferred to answering in kind, making mention of the supposed complexities attached to the field of transgender medicine without offering further explanation on the matter.

Levine’s nomination to the post is a sign of the Biden administration’s obsession with imposing a progressive policy agenda laden with gender ideologies. Last month he signed a controversial law requiring schools to allow transgender athletes to compete in female sporting events.
